Berlin Brandenburg International Airport Train Transfers

From the 31st October 2020 Berlin Brandenburg Willy Brandt Airport will open its new Terminal 1 officially, although flights for the winter season will begin from 25th October onwards. From then on the old Berlin Schöneberg Airport (SFX) will form Terminal 5 of the new BER Brandenburg Airport. The Terminal 1 layout allows airport operators to offer ground train transportation from an underground station right below the new building. S-Bahn trains and Regional trains leave from Level U2.

S-Bahn trains from lines S9 and S45 leave regularly from this station, as do Deutsche Bahn Regional trains RE7, RE9, RB14 and RB22. S-Bahn trains run every 20 minutes to Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Berlin Central Train Station). The trip into Downtown Berlin takes only 30 minutes. S-Bahn trains also link the terminals 1, 2 and 5 at BER, a trip from T1 to T5 takes just 8 minutes.

Berlin Hauptbahnhof (www.bahnhof.de ) is located at Europaplatz 1, 10557 Berlin (tel +49 30 297 1055). If you want to leave your belongings at the station and explore Berlin's city center before travelling onwards: the station has convenient lockers in all sizes for your bags and suitcases available.

To travel from Berlin Brandenburg Airport by train into Downtown Berlin you need a ticket that covers zones ABC. You can buy a variety of ticket options from vending machines at the Terminal 1 station. Single tickets from BER to Berlin Hauptbahnhof or similar central stops within the city's ABC zone cost from 1.90 euros per person. Kids aged 0 to 5 go free. The ticket is valid on all public transportation options, including buses, although not city tour buses. Terminal 5, currently still called Berlin Schöneberg Airport, lies in travel zone C.

Once you've purchased your ticket and boarded an S-Bahn train, you must validate your ticket by using one of the small machines on the train.
